We are getting to the tail end of the list. I think you may even see some 4 stars films today.

100. The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

The best of the Narnia films in my opinion. Still family friendly, but with a bit more about it than the first outing.

99. Brightburn

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

This is what happens if Superman grows up to be a dick.

98. Fatman

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

The Christmas film we’ve all been waiting for. A spoilt brat hires an assassin to kill Father Christmas when he receives coal in his stocking. It was great.

97. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

A great continuation of the story, that isn’t afraid to shock the young audience. Or the 37 year old.

96. The ‘Burbs

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

Another film I’d been meaning to watch for a long time, and it didn’t disappoint.

95. Sucker Punch

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

Knew absolutely nothing about this film going in. Been meaning to watch it for a while, as a Zack fan. Well it is a bit of a sucker punch, and not what I was expecting at all. Loved it.

94. Trading Places

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

I really tried to fill in some of the gaps in my film watching catalogue, and this was a must. Funny and just what I needed.

93. Us

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

Jordan Peele’s follow up to Get Out has the same mix of intensity and humour. This man knows how to make a movie. The Alexa scene was the stand out moment for me.

92. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I’ve already seen the first film, so it’s not in this list. But this is by far the second best instalment. I really liked how it built up and moved on. It wasn’t about just repeating the previous films.

91. El Mariachi

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I’ve seen Desperado and Once Upon A Time In Mexico so many time, but never got round to the original. A great film.

90. Shazam!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I’m not complaining, but a Mark Strong plays the villain a lot. This is a proper family superhero film. Along the lines of the original Superman.

89. Hard Eight

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

A young John C. Reilly stars alongside Phillip Baker Hall as gambling apprentice and teacher. I do like John in a straight role.

88. Scanners

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Apologies for the image, it sums the film up. A David Cronenberg classic.

87. Man On A Ledge

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Does exactly what it says in the title. It’s a man on a ledge.

86. Enemy At The Gates

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

It’s not as happy and cheery as the picture below suggests. It’s bleak, all seems lost, but it’s a great film.

85. Three Days Of The Condor

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

You probably know this, but Robert Redford is a fantastic actor. Here playing a CIA researcher on the run.

84. The General

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Another silent film, and what a classic. Had never seen a Buster Keaton film before 2020. Now I shall be catching up with as many as possible.

83. M

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

A man-hunt for a child killer. I’d never seen a Fritz Lang film before this year.

82. Pokémon Detective Pikachu

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Ah he’s cute. Really enjoyed it, just go along with it.

81. Say Anything…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

A classic film from 1989. John Cusack is on fire.

80. Unforgiven

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Grumpy old men out west. Probably the best way to describe it.

79. Toy Story 4

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

No Toy Story 3, but what is. A good entry, but I could only feel they’d ruined a perfect ending.

78. Spy Game

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Robert Redford is at it again. Teaching Brad Pitt to be a spy.

77. The People vs. Larry Flynt

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

A really interesting film, and thoroughly engaging.

76. Ghost In The Shell

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Not the Hollywood version. I may give it a go at some point, but I doubt it’ll be anywhere near as good.

75. Eighth Grade

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I suppose it happens to everyone as they get old. I don’t think I’d want to be a teenager now.

74. Boy

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Joyous and heartbreaking, absolutely loved this earlier work from Taika Waititi.

73. Citizen Kane

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

It’s meant to be a big deal or something according to Friends. I enjoyed it, but it didn’t change my life.

72. The Jackal

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

This was a big surprise to me. I love Bruce Willis as a bad guy, it really suits him.

71. Spirited Away

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I really liked this film, but expected to love it. Which I didn’t.

70. Paris, Texas

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

A wanderer who reconnects with society. A captivating piece of film.

69. King Kong (1933)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

An absolute classic and I bloody loved it.

68. Metropolis

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Should have watched this for my degree, but ran out of time. It wasn’t part of my assessment so skipped it. A masterpiece, and I can see why it was part of my studies.

67. Knives Out

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Agatha Christie would be proud of Rian Johnson.

66. Coco

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I’m not crying, you’re crying. Such a sweet film.

65. Inside Out

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I’m not crying, you’re crying. Such a sweet film. Hang on, have I said that before?

64. Once

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I’ve seen three John Carney films now. This earlier one is brilliant. Absolutely loved the ‘falling slowly’ scene.

63. Sleepless In Seattle

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

What can I say, loved it. Nora Ephron strikes gold.

62. Bicycle Thieves

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

A simple story told brilliantly. Such a powerful ending.

61. Escape From Alcatraz

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

If anyone was going to escape Alcatraz, it was always going to be Clint Eastwood.

60. 21 Bridges

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Chadwick Boseman is the star of this film. A great action film that deserves a watch, and then a rewatch.

59. The Gentlemen

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Another surprise. Guy Ritchie has been a bit hit and miss since his early gangster classics, but this is Ritchie at his best. Star performances from Hugh Grant and particularly Charlie Hunnam.

58. Tokyo Story

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

A beautiful film about family.

57. The Magnificent Seven

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

The remake of Seven Samurai isn’t as good as the original, but still a great film.

56. Interstellar

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Visually amazing, really liked it, but not as much as most do.

55. The Social Network

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Don’t think anyone else could have played Mark Zuckerberg. Jesse Eisenberg is perfect, the story is so engaging and I would have happily watched the next 10 years of Zuckerberg’s life played out by this cast.

54. The Hunt For Red October

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I promise I won’t mention the accents. I seem to enjoy every Jack Ryan film they bring out, even the Chris Pine one. However this is Sean Connery’s film, not Alec Baldwin’s Jack Ryan.

53. Yojimbo

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Yojimbo was later remade into A Fistful Of Dollars. This is a brilliant film, with equal parts action and comedy. A great watch.

52. Midnight Express

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

Not an easy watch. A young man imprisoned for trying to smuggle drugs out of Turkey. Amazingly a true story and one from very recent to when it came out.

51. Bad Boys For Life

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars

I think I might get grief for this, but I loved Bad Boys For Life. No it wasn’t like the first two, but it’s twenty years later, we don’t want more of that. A more mature Mike and Marcus, and a bit of life in franchise.

To be continued…
