This has been the hardest ‘top ? performances’ to compile. I started with 36 films, which took nearly an hour to whittle down to 20. Then it took even longer to rank the top 20, which I’m still not completely happy with now. It’s as accurate as I can get. Please let me know how you’d rank them.

Samuel L. Jackson has done so many films, which I’ve seen quite a lot of. Unfortunately I did have to bin a few off my list to make it to the top 20. Anyone looking for his performances as Nick Fury will be disappointed, plus only one Star Wars and XXX made it.

20. XXX (2002)

Samuel’s first outing as Agent Gibbons, and probably his best.

19. The 51st State (2001)

Samuel L. Jackson in Liverpool, playing a chemist, wearing a kilt. What more could you want?

18. The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)

I’ll mention this again, but he can sure act with a cigarette.

17. Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones (2002)

So this made it in due his great performance with the lightsaber. His fight with Jambi Fett is brilliant.

16. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)

We have a full on madcap performance. Let’s take over the world.

15. S.W.A.T. (2003)

Hugely underrated film. Got nonsense fun.

14. The Incredibles (2004)

Haven’t seen the sequel yet, but I’m sure Samuel gives an equally standout performance.

13. Shaft (2000)

Such an underrated film, and a great performance. Very much looking forward to the follow up later this year.

12. Snakes On A Plane (2006)

Snakes and Samuel L. Jackson on a plane. He starts to go self aware in this one.

11. Unicorn Store (2017)

Samuel working at a Unicorn Store. A very different side to him and a much welcomed performance.

10. The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017)

The chemistry between him and Ryan Reynolds is great. Love Ryan’s line ‘this guy has single-handedly ruined the word motherfucker.’

9. The Other Guys (2010)

Him and The Rock are by far the best thing in this film. It does downhill when they die.

8. Loaded Weapon 1 (1993)

Playing the Murtaugh character in the spoof of Lethal Weapon is brilliant.

7. Jackie Brown (1997)

‘When you absolutely, positively, got to kill every motherfucker in the room. Except no substitutes.’

6. The Negotiator (1998)

A great tense performance as the negotiator being negotiated to.

5. Deep Blue Sea (1999)

Now one of the most famous death scenes in cinema, his speech is pretty good too.

4. Jurassic Park (1993)

No man can act with a cigarette better than Samuel L. Jackson.

3. Black Snake Moan (2006)

Samuel plays bluesman, Lazarus, in this fantastic film which I’ve only seen it once. I will be putting this on my never ending list of films to rewatch.

2. Die Hard With A Vengeance (1995)

This is a great film. Whether people don’t think it’s a Die Hard film, doesn’t stop it from being a great film. He puts John McClane in his place and is fantastic as Zeus. He’s also pretty good at puzzles.

1. Pulp Fiction (1994)

I don’t think anyone can deny this mans brilliance in Pulp Fiction. For a man who only has a relatively small part, he is by far the best actor in it, starring as the no-nonsense Jules Winnfield. I can’t watch this film without wanting to track down a Big Kahuna Burger.
