Quick Verdict: I never wanted a unicorn

Brie Larson directs and stars in this charming film about a woman, who whilst struggling with growing up, finds herself torn between dreams and reality.

Kit (Brie Larson) always wanted a Unicorn when she was a kid. When she meets The Salesman (Samuel L. Jackson), he gives her the opportunity to make her dream come true.

Brie should get a lot of credit for this. Not many people can do such a good job in their first directing job, especially at such a young age. Added to that her acting, she is great.

Supporting her are the amazing Joan Cusack and Bradley Whitford as Kit’s parents, and Mamoudou Athie as Virgil, the carpenter who helps Kits dream come true.

So I’m not a fan of Unicorns, but that doesn’t really matter with this film. The film is about not giving up on your dreams or fantasies just because you have grown up. It’s a lovely message in a sweet film that I thoroughly enjoyed.
