At the beginning of this month HMV had been saved. But it came at the cost of 27 store closures. Now 3 weeks later, the man behind the buyout has managed to negotiate deals at several stores, and as I post this 8 of the 27 closed stores have reopened, including Plymouth in Devon.
As I live in Devon, I was devastated when both Plymouth and Exeter were on the hit list. As you’ve seen from previous posts, HMV is one of the few shops I visit when going shopping. So the news today that Plymouth has reopened its doors is brilliant. I only hope that news comes that Exeter and the other closed stores can reopen their doors soon.
Here are some words from the man behind the HMV revival, Doug Putman, who is doing an amazing job. It’s great to see such passion and hard work going into a high street shop. Long may it continue.
Right, if anyone needs me I’ll be in Plymouth HMV.
