Quick Verdict: Bond vs Dracula
So Roger Moore had stamped his style on Bond, and he hits the ground running in The Man With The Golden Gun. Bond is sent a message in the form of a bullet from the worlds greatest assassin, Scaramanga. Bond’s investigations into finding Scaramanga take him to Thailand.
This is another enjoyable film, lots of action, plenty of judo and a stunt that is possibly the best I have seen, but is accompanied by a stupid sound effect. The stunt in question is the great car flip over a river. It is absolutely amazing.
I do have one issue with this film, and it’s the use of Christopher Lee. You have a legend for a villan, and he is well underused. Slipping onto screen a handful of times before the finale. Such a waste. I think Nic Nac gets more screen time.
Lulu belts out a classic theme song. It’s an enjoyable film, but certainly not the best.
- Best Gadget: The Gun, it’s got to be the Gun
- Quote: Bond ‘I mean sir, who would pay a million dollars to have me killed?’ M ‘Jealous husbands, outraged chefs, humiliated tailors. The list is endless.’
- Favourite moment: Even with the sound effects, it has to be the car flip.
