Quick Verdict: I was quiet the whole time

A Quiet Place comes from the brain of John Krasinski, who also stars and directs this thrilling film. In a post-apocalyptic world, a family are forced to live in silence and fear by monsters who hunt by sound.

The film is 1 hour 25 minutes of tense viewing. From the very early first shock, you are on the edge of your seat for the entire film. It’s quite a simple story at the core and spends time developing character and building suspense. It does have the usual dose of ‘hmm I wonder if that tiny drop of information or insignificant shot will pay off later,’ and that’s fine. Some people moan about those bits, but without it you have no suspense.

The film has very little dialogue and the characters communicate through sign language so as not to attract the monsters.

Starring alongside John is Emily Blunt. I am yet to see her be anything but amazing. She is an astonishing actress and I can’t believe she has yet to be nominated for an Oscar. Sort it out. So no surprise, she was amazing in this.

The stand out for me though was the Millicent Simmonds as the daughter. This young actress is fantastic and I do hope she gets more work from this.

This is a great thrilling horror film which focuses on suspense and leaves the gore to your imagination, and I think it is a really works. Bring on the now confirmed sequel.
