Quick Verdict – I’ll have what she’s having
As a man (yes a man) who grew up with two older brothers, I didn’t see that many rom-com’s in the early nineties. So it isn’t a massive surprise to hear that I had never seen When Harry Met Sally. I will say that, had I been given the option to watch this back then I probably would have said no. For me, back then, the only good film Meg Ryan had been in was Top Gun. A statement that is complete rubbish. Now I would class this as one of her finest. Also, one of Billy Crystal’s finest.
Written by the legendary Nora Ephron and directed by Rob Reiner, When Harry Met Sally is about when Harry met Sally, and then met again, and again. When I did watch it I was absolutely hooked from the very beginning. The characters are believable and have such an engaging story arc. Carrie Fisher is in it and is her usual brilliant self. It’s a lovely film that I would happily go back to.
